The important types of probability problems are problems on conditional probability, problems on multiplication theorem and problems on bayes theorem. Here I will discuss on conditional probability example below.
Problem 1(On Conditional probability): A pair of dice is thrown. Find the probability that either of the dices shows 2 when their sum is 6?
Solution:
A: 2 appear on either of the dice and B: the sum of the two numbers on the dice is 6. So, A={(2,1),(2,2),(2,3) ,(2,4) ,(2,5) ,(2,6),(1,2), (2,2) (3,2) (4,2), (5,2) (6,2)},B={(1,5),(2,4),(3,3),(4,2),(5,1)} P(A B)=2/36 hence P(A/B)={P(AB)/P(B)} =2/5.
